2018 Vintage

The 2018 Jackson Estate GSM is a blend of mostly Grenache and Syrah brought up in a mix of French and American oak, almost all older barrels. It has a juicy, blackberry, peppery, spice character as well as medium to full-bodied richness, ripe tannins, and a charming, undeniably delicious style. It reminds me of a solid Côtes du Rhône. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years.

Winemaking

Aged 11 months in 88% French oak, 11% new. Pre-fermentation cold-soak adds layers of complexity by extracting a silkier tannin profile along with open-top fermentation for enhanced, softer tannins; delestage as needed.
